How is Cacao made?

Cacao grows on a tree in a tropical rainforest climate.  Only a small amount of cacao beans are harvested from each tree which means you need a lot of trees to create a viable industry.

What Cacao do You Recommend and Why?

Our recommended Cacao is available from so many retailers, here in Ireland – it’s obvious we don’t get any commission from recommending it.  With my background in Naturopathy, Scientific Research and Spirituality, I have chosen my preferred Cacao because it’s quality guaranteed.  Processed here in Ireland from ethically sourced cacao beans imported from countries where there is no slave labour.  With just 0.22% caffeine less than decaf coffee – its decaf Cacao which means no caffeine side-effects.

Do You Need to be Certified to Conduct a Cacao Ceremony?

There are a lot of people now running training courses for cacao ceremony certification, which is wonderful for those who prefer to learn from an in-person experience with the Tutor.  There are some wonderful Cacao Ceremony training experiences around the world providing immense benefit for many who attend.

As an ex-College Lecturer I know how there are different learning styles and if you are the type of adult who much prefers to find a recipe so you can teach yourself you will be perfectly capable of doing that, and its for folks who prefer to teach themselves, I have published a range of tutorials on this website.  Having a Certification as a Cacao Ceremony Facilitator isn’t essential, any more than you need a qualification to hold a tea ceremony, which you absolutely don’t.

While anyone can complete training as a Cacao Ceremony Facilitator for their own personal interest, if you wish to work professionally with Cacao and charge a fee for events which include a Cacao Ceremony including if you are self-taught, you will need to have your own holistic insurance.  To obtain this insurance you must be qualified to work with people in a related modality, for example you must have a main qualification either as a Teacher or Complementary Therapist.

To charge a fee for events which include a Cacao Ceremony, you should also be aware of your legal obligations to the public, and the requirements of lawful compliance in Complementary Therapies.

If you are experienced leading groups you already have most of the skills you need. To conduct a Cacao ceremony you need to work with subtle energies with respect and reverence for the sacred plant medicine – this is achieved through intention and the art of sacred ceremony.  To honour the history of this sacred medicine food and work with it’s magic – by allowing its magic to work with you in sacred space.

The best way to get started with Cacao and the art of ceremony, is to begin making a Cacao drink for yourself on a daily basis to experiment with the taste and discover the recipe which suits you the best.  The best way to do this is by creating your own daily Cacao ritual.  If you can do this for 28 days you are well on your way to having the knowledge and skills you need to create & conduct a sacred Cacao ceremony to share the knowledge and wisdom to others.

I also hold regular 1-day Cacao Retreats infused with Yoga and Sacred Sound, commencing at 8pm the night before, for private groups of up to 5 people at a time, where you can discover the art of Cacao Ceremony in the company of friends and receive Certification as a Cacao Ceremony Facilitator.

On completion of my 1-day Cacao Retreat you will be well on the way to completing your 28-day Cacao challenge – necessary to develop your Spiritual connection to the sacred Cacao medicine and become ready to hold Cacao Ceremony and sacred space for others.

the truth about cacao

What’s the Story About Cacao Temple?

Cacao Temple was first established in 2007 in Australia, by Australian Natural Therapist Sharon Quigley at her home in the Perth Hills of Western Australia who now lives in Ireland.  In 2007 Sharon had first learned about the wonders of this sacred Cacao medicine from a neighbour who had just returned from living for a few months in a tropical rainforest area of Sound America with the local people who were growing Cacao using the traditional methods used for centuries by their ancestors.

During his time living with the local native people he had learned so much about the significance of sacred Cacao medicine and the important role Cacao played in their every day lives.  Including how to make fresh dark chocolate for eating – along with a super healthy chocolate drink with raw Cacao in their traditional ways.  He was eager to share his new-found knowledge of sacred Cacao medicine with Sharon in the same traditional way he had learned himself, by showing the process, making it, and experiencing its magic.  Guided by the Cacao Spirit, from the pure love of his heart.

Once the Spirit of the Cacao becomes your friend and you connect with this sacred plant medicine authentically, so profound is the effect of pure love which Cacao has on you that you will literally want to share this knowledge with the world.  Because this is more than connecting with the Cacao Spirit, this connecting with our Sacred Earth and what our Creator has provided for us to live a long, happy and healty life.

It is through this authentic love and connection with the Spirit of the Cacao which Sharon is now guided to share this sacred knowledge with you through the teachings of Cacao Temple.
